Maintenance Window
Maintenance Windows enable the pausing of specific actions during reserved time frames.
Broadcast Suite offers three modes for setting up maintenance windows:
Maintenance Window Modes
Pause All Actions
Best for: Small Broadcast Suite instances with few actions.
How it works: Every action is paused during this maintenance.
Pause Selected Actions
Best for: Pausing only a few specific actions.
How it works: Actions are manually added to or removed from the maintenance window via its detail page.
Only actions added to the maintenance window will be paused during this maintenance.
Pause by Action Setting (Default)
Best for: Quick setup, though attention is required when adding new actions.
How it works: Only actions with their Execute During Maintenance flag set to False will be paused during maintenance.
This flag should be set for new actions intended to be paused during this maintenance.
Example: Setting the Execute During Maintenance flag of E-Mail actions to False prevents e-mails from being sent during this maintenance.
Editing Currently Active Maintenance Windows
The start and end time of a currently active maintenance window may be edited, but its mode cannot be changed, nor can it be deleted.
Important notes on active windows:
- In Pause All Actions mode, newly created actions are not paused until
Apply Configis used. - In Pause Selected Actions mode, adding or removing actions pauses or resumes them immediately.
This occurs because actions are selected via the maintenance window, which does not require an
Apply Configfor changes to take effect. - In Pause by Action Setting mode, changing the
Execute During Maintenanceflag does not pause or resume actions immediately. Actions must be manually paused or resumed, orApply Configmust be used.
Notes
Duplication: When duplicating a maintenance window, the new maintenance window will have its start date set to tomorrow preserving the original time of day. This is to prevent the new maintenance window from being active upon creation.
